Something Different presents...

Dr Sketchy's Anti Art School (SEPT)

Thu 09 September

Dr Sketchy’s is what happens when cabaret meets art school. You bring your pencils and paper and we’ll bring you the most beautiful, bizarre and outrageous models for your sketching delectation! Think burlesque dancers, drag kings and queens, circus performers and we let you draw them for a whole three hours!

Dr.Sketchy's is for everyone, whether you're the next big thing or you've never drawn in your life. Bring a sketchpad, a pencil and some enthusiasm - that's all you need ! Please do not bring oil paints or anything that is going to make a big old mess or be too stinky.

There will also be musical interludes and the chance to take part in ridiculous drawing contests (best left handed drawing? Best incorporation of a woodland animal?) where you can win booze or prizes.

The Dr Sketchy’s empire started in New York and soon began it’s syphillis-like spread across the globe, boozing it up in major cities everywhere! Check out www.drsketchy.com to find out all about it..

Friday Night's Music Night presents...

Roots'n' Shoots Presents....LITTLE Giants

Fri 10 September

Roots 'n' Shoots is please to have local talent Little Gaints gracing the Peaock Lounge stage....

LITTLEgiants’ music is a unique blend of old time, blues, country, bluegrass, rockabilly and just about anything as long as it’s raw, and passionate. They were formed by husband and wife Martin and Ruth Nuttall following the break up of their previous band Five Corners, with a view to playing and writing music that encompassed all their influences and at the same time keeping it simple and accessible. Things really started to happen when Morley Hilton joined the couple on upright bass, they met by accident over a 50’s Ford pick-up truck and haven’t looked back since. With the final addition of Andy Greaves on the devil’s mandolin and guitar and Jim Bottomley on fiddle (who Martin plays with in the Tragics) , the line up was complete and armed with a set of new songs, some original, some traditional, LITTLEgiants’ raw old time sound went public. They have played recent supports to the likes of Emily Barker & Red Clay Halo, Ten Bears and Rook & the Ravens. Incorporating banjo, guitar, harmonica, accordion, slap bass and mandolin, they bring a new twist to traditional sounds. Their debut recording, the 5 track EP “Welcome to our House” was recorded by the band ‘live’ around a single microphone with no over dubs or fancy stuff to give an honest representation of the bands front room.

Supporting littleGIANTS will be Dan Collins and Dave Rigg of the Long Trick.

Burlesque Night Presents...

Belle Epoque Burlesque (SEPT)

Sat 11 September

Burlesque existed for centuries as a theatrical form based on comedy and satire. It only adopted its signature erotic tone over the last century.

It was revived in the UK during the 90s, and has seen an explosion in popularity!

Burlesque performers use diverse forms of communication with the their audiences - interpreting music and lyrics as well as employing mime to amuse, berate, titillate, shock, mislead or educate.

Burlesque is an art form. Burlesque shows across the UK incorporate genres as diverse as ballet, fire performance, opera, contortionism and aerial acrobatics - as well as striptease, which is actually still used by many performers to parody sexuality, politics and social values.

Burlesque has created a context in which women can be creative, performative and sexually expressive in a way determined solely by themselves, irrespective of their age, shape, size or proportions; burlesque celebrates the female - and male - form in all its variety.

It's risqué, decadent and entertaining. Burlesque delights in an image of glamour, mischief and sauciness, and attracts a sophisticated following.

So why not join us here at Peacock Lounge for an evening of beauty and decadence with wonderful burlesque performances and musical entertainment, the marvellous line up is Cici Cyclone, Velma Von Bon Bon, and Diva Hollywood and your fabulous host is the amazing Des O'Connor
.

This night is a real excuse to get dressed up and peacock yourself with beautiful dresses and fascinators as well as smart suits and the occasional hat. At the moment this is our most popular night and so we recommend you book well in advance as everyone is guaranteed a table!!
